Broughton High School Gymnastics Team

AN EDINBURGH sports team has received funding from the Ross and Liddell Community Bursary Scheme.

Broughton High School Gymnastics Team is a recipient of the property management company’s fifth funding programme, which provides support to organisations all over Scotland.

The group isrun by PE teacher Hannah Deans and youngsters regularly take part in competitions across the UK.

At their after-school sessions, youngsters from all over the catchment area go through drills and learn routines. Some of the team won awards at the recent British Schools heats while others have been invited to represent Scotland.

The funding received from Ross and Liddell will be used to buy new leotards and equipment in preparation for forthcoming competitions.

Teacher Hannah Deans said:

“This funding really is fantastic for the group. We are planning on putting it towards new leotards for up-coming events and competitions.

“It will also help us to grow the group and develop the experience we provide for our girls as well as helping us to focus on performing and giving back to the local community.

“We have children from S1 all the way through to S6. It’s vital youngsters have access to groups like this in the local area. Itis such a positive outlet for them and they’ll take their experiences forward into later life.”

Ross and Liddell specialises in property management and maintenance, as well as providing a comprehensive range of residential and commercial services, including sales, lettings, surveying and insurance.

Now in its fifth year, the Community Bursary Scheme was launched to provide support to organisations that make a vital difference in their community.

Broughton High Gymnastics Team is one of 31 groups to receive funding in this bursary year. Edinburgh property manager Mark Hazelwood made the presentation at the school this month.

“We are thrilled to offer our support and know that the funding will be put to good use.”
