The Ark

AN AYR project which provides diversionary events for young people has received a funding boost from Ross and Liddell.

The Ark welcomes around 150 young people into its venue at the Citadel each week. As well as opening on a Friday evening, the project also runs a lunch café and Chill:in, a midweek event for young people to come and eat, socialise and be creative

The support from Ross and Liddell’s Community Bursary Scheme will help The Ark fund its summer programme of activities.

Deborah Msipha, Youth Project Worker at The Ark, said: ‘’We would like to thank Ross and Liddell for choosing to support the work of The Ark.

“We are 10 years in the running and still providing young people with a safe, fun place to come to.

“The funding received will go towards our summer programme which we are in the process of planning. The young people who will be enjoying the activities provided during summer will also be grateful for the opportunities given.

“As a charity we are dependant on the generosity of Charitable Trusts, Foundations and companies such as Ross and Liddell. We are very grateful for the support we recieve.’’

Ross and Liddell specialises in property management and maintenance, as well as providing a comprehensive range of residential and commercial services, including sales, lettings, surveying and insurance.

Now in its fourth year, the Community Bursary Scheme was launched to provide support to organisations that make a vital difference in their community.

Irene Devenny, managing director of Ross and Liddell, said: “The Ayr Ark is a vital service which provides a safe space for young people to gather and enjoy time with friends.

“The community bursary was set up to help organisations that have a real benefit on the local community and it’s important that projects like this are supported and encouraged. It’s obvious from its high attendance numbers that The Ayr Ark is a well-loved and well-used facility and we are thrilled to offer our support with this donation.”
