A LOCAL netball club has received funding for new equipment from Ross and Liddell’s Community Bursary Scheme.
Helensburgh Netball Club is a recipient of the 2014 initiative, which provides funding to community organisations across the country.
The Club, which has around 45 members, will use the donation to purchase playing kit and equipment.
Trudy Johnson, Chair of Helensburgh Netball Club, said: “We are thrilled to receive funding from Ross and Liddell’s Community Bursary Scheme.
“It’s a nice start to the New Year as this support will allow us to purchase new equipment to support our recreational and squad players. It has given the club a real boost and we are very grateful.”
Formed in 2008, the club meets every Monday night in Lomond School sports hall and encourages women over the age of 15 to join in to increase fitness, meet new people and have fun. It also has two teams that play within the Glasgow Netball Association League.
Trudy added: “We are a very sociable group of women – netball is a great sport to play and our training sessions are really good fun. No matter the ability, all women over the age of 15 are welcome to join us on a Monday night.”
Ross and Liddell specialises in property management and maintenance, as well as providing a comprehensive range of residential and commercial services, including sales, lettings, surveying and insurance.
Now in its fourth year, the Community Bursary Scheme was launched to provide support to organisations that make a vital difference in their community.
Irene Devenny, managing director of Ross and Liddell, said: “The bursary has really gone from strength to strength and the amount of entries that we received for the 2014 scheme was fantastic.
“It’s very important that local sports clubs have access to funding sources to ensure their longevity. Helensburgh Netball Club is a vital community club which attracts players of all ages and abilities, and most importantly offers a fun environment for women to socialise.
“We are thrilled to offer our support and know that the new equipment will be put to good use.”
