Letting Code of Practice

Did you know that every Letting Agent in Scotland must be approved and registered by the Scottish Government, and that they must follow the Letting Agent Code of Practice?

If they don’t have a Letting Agent Registered Number, they are not allowed to manage your properties.

Are you comfortable that your agent is ensuring that you meet your obligations as a fit and proper landlord?

Are you sure your Agent is fulfilling their obligations to you as a Landlord?

Are you certain that they have obtained all the relevant gas safety certificates, EPC’s and smoke alarms?

This can cause real issues for landlords at the end of a tenancy.

Letting Agents are under increased pressure to clean up their act to provide a transparent well – regulated service to tenants and landlords. We believe this legislation will drive out the unscrupulous letting agents.
